Students’ Opinions for Educational Curriculum of Managing Health Insurance System Related with Dental Treatments from a Graduate School of Dentistry

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to obtain the opinions for the strengthening of educational curriculum at dental schools on the management of insurance system related with dental treatments.
Methods: To collect opinions of the educational status and awareness of insurance system related with dental treatments, questionnaires designed by authors were used to 4th grade students of a graduate school of dentistry.
Results: 83.1% of students answered that the lecture and training time of education for the management of insurance system related with dental treatments was sufficient; 16.9%, insufficient. The educational contents for the management of insurance system related with dental treatments should include laws and ordinance, treatment cost request procedure, claim procedure about the review judgement and field examination on the requested treatment costs of National Health Insurance system and private health insurance program related to dental treatments. The best semester for the education of health insurance related with dental treatment was answered as spring-semester of 4th grade from 59.7% of students, fall-semester of 3rd grade from 19.5% of students, fall-semester of 4th grade from 16.9% of students. Students suggested
the practice strengthening of treatment cost request procedure on National Health Insurance system.
Conclusions: To enhance the operational competencies managing the National Health Insurance Program, the establishment of the exclusive educational subject.
